CASE STUDIES

SAT-OCEAN has been providing CGG with real-time ocean
current forecast in the Gulf of Mexico.  SAT-OCEAN answered
seismic companies need for ocean current information with a very high temporal and spatial resolution by providing daily forecasts with a 1-hour timestep and 7-km resolution.

SAT-OCEAN has worked for SHELL (US) providing current measurements and forecasts offshore Brazil.
We have provided to SHELL reports twice a week describing the oceanographic situation on site as observed

and analyzed by SAT-OCEAN. The information was used on the rig to schedule riser maneuvers for example.

TOTAL used SAT-OCEAN services in Nigeria for the purpose of performing statistics on the surface current.
SAT-OCEAN provided daily current maps and time series spanning a year or more.
Extreme event statistics (1, 10 and 100 years return periods) are used by the operator as well as comparisons to
simultaneous on site measurements for design.

SAT-OCEAN has provided 48-hour current forecasts covering one of the operation areas (Agulhas
Current – South Africa)  of TRANSOCEAN SEDCO FOREX . On site ADCP current measurements have shown a posteriori a good accuracy of our satellite surface current forecast, which was a premier in physical oceanography.

WOODSIDE used SAT-OCEAN services offshore Kenya and Mauritania to assist their drilling campaigns.
Currents in these regions are extremely variables with strong surges and very high shears. We provided 3-Dimensional ocean current information in real time.

Logo WORKSHIPS  WORKSHIPS used SAT-OCEAN ocean  current forecast services during three simulataneous towing operations on three different oceans and seas
(South Atlantic Ocean, North Atlantic Ocean and South China Sea).  The real-time ocean current magnitude and direction information provided to the vessels allowed them
to gain speed by following the most advantageous currents.
