WINDS and SQUALLS/GUSTS

Our products | Ocean currents | Ocean waves | Sea surface temperature | Rain,Winds,Squalls| Tides| Sea Ice

RAIN
Using its usual approach of combining several satellite sensors, SAT-OCEAN can provide 8-year long time series of
rain rate anywhere on the globe with a 3-hour time resolution.

WINDS
Using its remote sensing database rich of 21 years of wind data, SAT-OCEAN can produce a hindcast analysis of
the wind magnitude and direction for any region of the globe.

SAT-OCEAN can also provide you with real-time wind magnitude and direction nowcast/forecast for any region of the globe.

WEATHER FORECAST
SAT-OCEAN is associated with world renowned weather forecasting companies providing weather forecasts up to 4 times
a day for any location around the globe.

SQUALLS
With its usual approach of u
sing several sensors, SAT-OCEAN offers a new service of Squall Tracking in Western Africa.
Squalls are mesoscale convective systems observed in the tropical latitude band West of Africa. Their origin is very much related to the orography of the African continent.
The frontal portion of squalls is associated with an intense rain and wind gust activity.
The squalls' lifetime varies greatly and some of them last long enough to reach the African coast, thus potentially threatening the offshore oil and gas industry operations.

SAT-OCEAN now offers two services related to squalls in Western Africa :

                    -  Hindcast analysis of the squall occurences for a given location offshore West Africa based on 9 years of data.

                    -  Real-time Squall Warning System for your offshore operations. Reports sent twice daily indicating the potentially
threatening squalls. Additional reports are sent as often as necessary in case of a rapidly evolving event.

Precipitation estimates obtained from the combination of several satellite sensors is a proxy for tracking Squalls
in addition to Cloud Top Temperature.
